Rimmel Mascaras
Rimmel mascaras are offered by the cosmetics company Rimmel London. The original founder of the company is Eugene Rimmel, who was born in France in 1820. Eugene's father was the manager of a perfumery in London, where the family moved to after accepting the position. As an apprentice of his father, Eugene was also a perfumer and businessman. In 1834, at the young age of fourteen, Eugene established the House of Rimmel, which was a perfumery. The father and son duo worked together to produce both perfumes and cosmetics. Eugene Rimmel is known as one of the pioneers of the beauty, healthcare, and cosmetics industries.
Rimmel's success was renowned throughout all of Europe, as he worked closely with many of the royal families around Europe, collecting ten Royal Warrants for his perfumes and cosmetics products. In 1860, Eugene Rimmel's Book of Perfume, which describes the history and methods of perfumery, was published. He stated in this book that "the history of perfume is, in some manner, the history of civilisation". When Rimmel died in 1887, his two sons took over the business, and focused on the production of eye make-up. In 1949, Coty Inc. acquired the Rimmel brand. The vision of Rimmel is one that is synonymous with the London look, which is trendy, witty, and on the cutting edge of fashion.
Rimmel mascaras are most famous for Eugene's development of the first commercially available non-toxic mascara. In fact, the word "mascara" translates as rimmel or rimel in many languages such as Spanish, Italian, French, Turkish, and Persian. Rimmel mascaras are offered in lines such as Magnif'eyes Mascara, Lash Maxxx, Glam'eyes Mascara, and more. Rimmel mascaras, much like the other cosmetics lines of Rimmel, are always new and fresh, keeping in line with the pioneering efforts of Eugene Rimmel in the mid 19th century.
