Maybelline Mascaras
Maybelline mascaras are part of the Maybelline Company, which is owned by L'Oreal. T.L. Williams founded the company in 1915, and named it after his sister, Maybel. Maybelline mascaras are the product that gained the company its fame. In 1917, Maybelline launched "the first modern eye cosmetic for everyday use", which was the first modern mascara to be introduced to the market. The company started out by selling Maybelline mascaras through mail. After being sold by Williams in 1967, the company was sold two more times until it was acquired by L'Oreal in 1996. The company slogan, "Maybe She's Born With It. Maybe It's Maybelline", has been the company's slogan since 1991. Today it has become the number one cosmetics brand globally.
Maybelline cosmetics are available worldwide, in over 90 countries. L'Oreal SA, the company that owns Maybelline, also owns Garnier, Kiehl's, The Body Shop and many more companies. The L'Oreal group of companies reported sales of over 16 billion Euros in the year 2007. Maybelline headquarters are located in New York, New York, with B. Wasserstein as the chairman. At the end of 2007, Maybelline had grown to approximately two thousand workers, with a manufacturing and distribution center that measured an estimated one million square feet.
