Lancome Mascaras
Lancôme is a cosmetic brand that derives its name from a Parisian town of the same name. Lancôme is an affiliate of cosmetics giant L'Oreal, together with brands like Kiehl's, Biotherm, etc. Lancôme's product line includes, perfume, skin care products, and other cosmetics.
Lancôme History
The company was founded by Armand Petitjean in 1935. The company logo, showing a golden rose, was derived from the many wild roses of Le Château de Lancosme, where Armand was vacationing that year. The company started with perfumes as its initial products, which included brand names such as Bocages, Conquete, Kypre, Tendre Nuit and Tropiques. In 1936, he lauched another product called Nutrix, which celebrated its 70th anniversary last 2006. Since then, Lancôme products have branched out to include skincare and makeup products as well.
Lancôme Spokesmodels
Carol Alt, an American-born model and actress, became the youngest face to carry the Lancôme brand at age 18. French model Nancy Duteil also endorsed the brand during this period. However, they were both replaced by the more established actress Isabella Rosellini, who became Lancôme's international spokesmodel exclusively for a long-running period of 14 years.
The period from 1996 to 2005 saw a slew of well-known celebrities carrying the Lancôme name. The list includes Uma Thurman, Shalom Harlow, Drew Barrymore and Mena Suvari. By 2005, Daria Werbowy was revealed as their new spokesperson. She was replaced in 2006 by Brazilian Raica Oliveira. Kate Winslet became their spokesperson on June 11, 2007. She will be replaced by Anne Hathaway on September 2008 together with the launch of a new fragrance.
Lancôme also has a men's product line of skin care products that is currently endorsed by Clive Owen, including their latest in men's perfume, Hypnôse Homme.
