Chanel Mascaras
Chanel Mascaras are one of the more popular products by the Parisian cosmetic company House of Chanel, which is more known by its shorter name, Chanel. Chanel was founded by female French fashion designer Gabriel Bonheur "Coco" Chanel. Currently, the company is owned by Gerard and Alan Wertheimer, who are the grandchildren of Pierre Wertheimer, Coco Chanel's early partner in the business.
Early Beginnings
Before venturing into cosmetics and makeup, Coco Chanel started the company by creating menswear fashion apparel that were simple yet very elegant. At the beginning of the second World War in 1939, Chanel drastically decided to close her shops because she deemed that the prevailing human climate was not suited for fashion. Accessories and perfumes were the products that remained for sale in Chanel's various boutiques nationwide during this time.
Chanel's Fashion Innovations
By 1954, Coco Chanel felt that it was time to bring the Chanel Couture back, and so she came out of her self-imposed retirement at the age of 71. Her first show out of retirement garnered international critical acclaim. It is the same show that introduced her signature jersey suit that bears the number "5", which is a number that she is generally known to favor. By 1955, she introduced Pour Monseiur, her very first perfume for men.
Aside from menswear, Coco Chanel also created fashion for ladies. She is credited for making the "little black dress", dubbed by Vogue magazine as the modern woman's new uniform. The year 1932 saw her produce a jewellery exhibit inspired by diamonds.
Chanel's phenomenal perfume no.5 paved the way for her venture into cosmetics. Today, aside from Chanel Mascaras, the company's product line runs the gamut from fashion and accessories, jewelries and watches, makeup, skin care, fragrance, and various beauty products. Gabriel Bonheur "Coco" Chanel died on January of 1971 at the age of 88.
