After recognizing her own beauty, Bobbi Brown made it her personal mission to make every woman feel beautiful with what she naturally has. She studied theatrical makeup at Emerson College and later went to New York City where she started her career as a professional makeup artist. Bobbi Brown's penchant for natural beauty compelled her to mix her own shade of makeup, because the cosmetic industry during that time was filled with extremely bright and kitschy colors. This was a stark contrast to the subdued earth tones, which she preferred. With the help of a chemist at Kiehl's pharmacy, she created Brown Lip Color, from which a whole line of brown-based lip colors was invented. Bobbi Brown's lip color line was finally launched as Bobbi Brown Essentials in 1991 at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City. It was such a hit that Estee Lauder Companies, Inc. bought the cosmetic line four years after it was introduced.
Since then, Bobbi Brown's creations have gone far beyond lip color, skincare products, and eye palettes. She now has her own line of fragrances and makeup tools. Aside from being a sought-after international makeup artist, she writes books and appears on TV and lifestyle shows. Bobbi Brown is also a philanthropist. She founded Dress for Success, a charitable organization that gives makeovers and career tips to disadvantaged women who also want to make a name for themselves.
Bobbi Brown's best-selling items include lip gloss palettes, tinted moisturizers, shimmer eye shadows, gel eyeliners, cream-based products, and light-scented perfumes. However, Bobbi Brown says that the top item on the best-seller list is Bobbi Brown Everything Mascara. As its name implies, the Bobbi Brown mascara does everything that a woman wants it to do: lengthens, fortifies, and conditions your lashes for more defined eyes; prevents lashes from clumping and blotching for a cleaner, more natural look.
